Investing in a growth market

The global water treatment market is projected to grow from €270 billion today to more than €580 billion by 2030. Over the next five years, global wastewater flows are expected to exceed 480 billion cubic metres. Driven by water scarcity, population growth and increasingly stringent regulations, the need for investment in clean water infrastructure continues to grow worldwide.

Backed by physical assets

Investments are backed by the physical water treatment plants owned and operated by Dutch Clean Tech. The signed, long-term operating contracts provide additional economic value and predictable future revenue streams. Bondholders’ interests are represented by Stichting Obligatiehoudersbelangen.

ProPetapa, a joint venture project with Dutch Clean Tech, is dedicated to supply clean potable water under long term contracts to EMPAGUA, the Municipal Water Supply Company of Guatemala City, and other major industrial users. It also provides non chlorinated water to industrial Concrete Cement mixing companies.

With Dutch Clean Tech the group is seeking major projects to treat wastewater from densely populated municipalities before it reaches Lake Amatitlán, the most important reservoir of fresh water of Guatemala City. The vision is to then take water from the lake; have it treated and make potable in order to sell it back to the same water utilities. The revenues from water sales would profitably cover the cost of the treatment plants.

Local partner, Guatemala City

What excites me about working at Dutch Clean Tech is being part of a talented and committed team with a shared purpose: using innovation and practical engineering to protect the environment and improve people’s lives. We want our technology to help make clean water, healthier surroundings and better living conditions a reality, particularly for communities that need them most. Working together to turn that ambition into practical projects with lasting benefits is what makes the work so rewarding.

Jim Latto
CTO Dutch Clean Tech

I have been a satisfied investor in this company for a number of years now.

Firstly, this company works in the water supply industry. How wonderful is that? Doesn't every person need clean drinking water?
Secondly, this company offers its investors an attractive and solid return.
Thirdly, the people who work at this company are very approachable. Any question may be asked, and good, useful suggestions from others are taken very seriously. Communication from the organisation is transparent and the lines are pleasantly short.

In short: as far as I am concerned, nothing but praise for Dutch Clean Tech.

Jan Paul
Investor, Dutch Clean Tech

We have met Dutch Clean Tech both in Guatemala and in Mexico. The Global Gateway strategy, as I have been explaining until now, is a strategy that aims to unite or build a public-private partnership to deliver public policy goals, for example, in water and sanitation, in circular economy, or, as we did in Quintana Roo, on the topic of sargassum.

There will be no collection or valorization of sargassum in Mexico unless there is a value chain. And to create a value chain, we need the private sector. What is the private sector?

Companies like Dutch Clean Tech that work precisely in the field of developing technologies that improve circular economy, and that enable the creation of a sargassum value chain that can even enhance the economy, energy, and more.

Félix Fernández-Shaw
Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Directorate-General for International Partnerships, European Commission.

Dutch Clean Tech, it is a company that is very special because they not only sell water treatment plant equipment, but they also have a fund within the company to finance these projects and that makes this company very special.

Wilfred Mohr
Former Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Mexico.

Dutch Clean Tech is a very important company, which already has several projects in Mexico, now already evaluating several investment proposals in the state of Quintana Roo, together with our governor Mara Lezama and the CEO of Dutch Clean Tech, in order to work in the northern area of the state of Quintana Roo, grateful to them and well we are going to continue working to propose solutions regarding environmental issues in the state.

Brandon Bernabé Mex Martínez
Director of Waste at the Ministry of the Environment of the State of Quintana Roo

We want companies such as Dutch Clean Tech, or any other Dutch company with the capacity to invest, to commit so that next year we are not here talking about possibilities, but about agreements and concrete actions.

Climate change is something that requires the energy, the commitment, the will, and the joint effort of both Mexicans and Europeans, and also of companies, both European and Mexican. This week, we had the opportunity to work extensively on the issue of sargassum, a topic that is essential for Mexico, essential for the development of the entire Caribbean region. And in that regard, the key role we expect European companies to play, particularly Dutch Clean Tech, with its vision, responsibility, and innovative capacity that can contribute so much to the development of this country.

Francisco André
Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation to Mexico

Just over a year ago, we embarked on a mission to bring about change with one of the largest investments in private water distribution in Guatemala. Dutch Clean Tech was one of the few parties that believed in it from the start: through technical exchange and their support as one of our first investors, we gained the attention of investors, customers and partners. With Sander Pielkenrood, CEO of Dutch Clean Tech, as one of our ambassadors, we are broadening our goals towards more sustainable water solutions for our country. With a partner that has been delivering advanced water purification worldwide for more than 60 years, we are convinced that the results will soon become visible.

Frequently asked questions

As a bondholder, you will receive fixed interest payments every quarter. Dutch Clean Tech bonds also have a fixed maturity date, meaning that your principal is scheduled to be repaid at the end of the term, subject to the issuer’s ability to meet its repayment obligations.
Of course, investing in bonds involves risks. For more information about the risks associated with this investment, please refer to our Information Memorandum.

Investing always involves risks. While savings accounts generally offer greater security, their returns may be limited, particularly when taking inflation into account.

In the event of Dutch Clean Tech’s insolvency, investors could lose some or all of their principal. We therefore recommend investing only money you can afford to lose.

Although we aim to minimise these risks, it is important to understand that they cannot be ruled out entirely. We believe in providing transparent information so that you can make an informed decision about whether this investment is right for you.

We aim to provide adequate security for the projects we finance. The type and level of security may vary by country and project.

The assets provided as collateral for projects financed through Dutch Clean Tech Water Fund Bonds are pledged to the bondholders collectively.

The interests of all holders of Dutch Clean Tech Water Fund Bonds are represented by Stichting Dutch Clean Tech Waterfonds Obligaties.

We currently offer one category of bond: Category B: 1,080 bonds with a nominal value of €25,000 each. These bonds carry a fixed annual coupon rate of 9% and have a maximum term of seven years. Early redemption is permitted.
The minimum investment is €100,000.

Dutch Clean Tech offers 1,080 Category B bonds at €25,000 each. With the minimum participation of €100,000, you will receive four bonds.

Dutch Clean Tech Waterfonds BV primarily invests the funds raised in the construction of wastewater treatment plants. It may also invest in projects related to, or otherwise contributing to, clean water and sustainable energy. In addition, the company is exploring opportunities in waste processing, with a particular focus on recycling and generating energy from waste. A portion of the funds is also used to cover the costs associated with structuring and issuing the bonds and selling the lease contracts.

The bonds issued by Dutch Clean Tech Waterfonds BV can be traded privately during their term, offering investors flexibility. As the bonds are not currently listed on an exchange, there is no public marketplace on which to trade them.

If you wish to sell your bonds, you can notify Dutch Clean Tech, and we will offer them to other Dutch Clean Tech investors.

We are currently exploring the possibility of listing the bonds on a regulated exchange and aim to make this possible within the next few years. If a listing is achieved, the bonds would be directly tradable on that exchange.
